For a long time, there was little discussion about the inclusion of people with disabilities in various work environments until the topic emerged strongly in the mid-21st century, prompting significant changes and raising critical questions within companies. “Does my company really have an accessible and inclusive system?”

A research conducted by IBGE in 2022 revealed the difficulty people with disabilities face in being included in the job market, whether due to accessibility issues or lack of opportunities, resulting in an alarming number of people without access to their first job. Considering inclusion, major companies like Natura offer training programs focused on empowering and including people in the market environment. When we turn our attention to the technology sector, companies like ELDORADO Institute stand out by bringing inclusion programs such as the ‘Oficina PcD’.

Inclusion Program: Oficina PcD

In addition to offering a wide range of training programs for its employees, ELDORADO is renowned for its commitment to including individuals with various disabilities. Started in 2008, the ‘Oficina PcD’ program aims to prepare and include these individuals in various projects within the organization, offering not only preparation to perform work activities but also equality and the opportunity to take on tasks with autonomy to develop themselves. The program also emphasizes regular and individualized monitoring of employees with disabilities participating in the program.

Many people have gone through the program, such as Enderson Nascimento Oliveira, who currently works as an IA (Integration Analyst) at ELDORADO and describes this opportunity as a significant milestone in his career:

“I never imagined I would get the chance to work in the sector I chose. We know how limited the opportunities are for people with disabilities to adapt to the job market. When the opportunity arose, I embraced it as tightly as I could, and today I am part of a great team that helps me develop every day, and an organization that continually helps me become a more skilled professional.”

It is notable how programs like Oficina PcD open doors for people with disabilities to have more opportunities and the hope of not being confined to a single niche within the market. This is just the beginning of a long journey towards inclusion and combating ableism, but ELDORADO is increasingly ahead in programs for the training and development of its employees.

Experience in the Program: Oficina PcD

When the opportunity arose, I felt professionally stagnant, in a job where I didn’t feel encouraged to improve. Participating in the program was undoubtedly a great challenge, as it gave me the opportunity not only to change my perspective regarding my position in the job market but also to develop professionally.

Having pedagogical support helped me align expectations, resolve doubts, and develop more quickly within the program. Today, I am on a project where I have the opportunity to learn and improve, taking advantage of the opportunities ELDORADO provides to take courses, attend lectures, and become a better professional every day. Like many others who have been or are in the program, I might never have imagined myself in such a competitive field as technology. Having the possibility to reinvent myself, develop, and now be responsible for a product within my project is undoubtedly a great achievement.
