The National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology (INMETRO) has ordinances to define criteria related to the safety aspects of Appliances sold in Brazil.
They aim to prevent consumer accidents and protect consumers from the electrical, mechanical, thermal, fire and radiation risks of the devices, when in normal use, in addition to the analysis of electromagnetic phenomena (Electromagnetic Compatibility).
INMETRO’s ordinances refer to the technical standards of the ABNT NBR NM 60335-1 or IEC 60335-1 series, basic standards, and the specific standards ABNT NBR NM 60335-2-X or IEC 60335-2-X applied by products.
